ÖSD exams at SDSK

The language school “Studienzentrum für deutsche Sprache und Kultur – SDSK,” founded in 2023, specializes in language instruction, particularly German as a foreign language. The close connection between theory and practice is particularly noteworthy. From now on, there are also ÖSD exams at SDSK.

German courses for all levels in a modern environment

The SDSK institution in Baku, Azerbaijan, offers a wide range of German courses for different age groups and levels – from A1 to C1. The programs also include targeted preparation for ÖSD exams.

Participants range from young people to working adults and students. Flexible course times and weekend programs facilitate participation for everyone. The language courses offered are also tailored to the individual needs of the learners and offer interactive learning formats.

SDSK is centrally located in a modern and easily accessible building and features bright, technically well-equipped classrooms. The learning environment is pleasant, calm, and inspiring.

A team with a scientific background

The SDSK teaching team consists of experienced language instructors and university faculty members who also teach at universities. This includes Sevinj Rzayeva – the institution’s director and a professor of German Studies at Baku Slavic University for many years, where she holds various leading positions. Like the entire team, she brings her professional experience to the German courses, thus shaping the learning process according to high European quality standards. The teaching approach is driven by the latest scientific findings, which benefit the learners.

Digital media, current textbooks, and project-oriented methods serve to make the lessons active and effective. Once a week, the native speakers among the teaching staff offer a conversation on a specific topic.

Decision for the ÖSD

Sevinj Rzayeva is now also the ÖSD examination official. She says of an important step for her language school: “The decision to become a partner of the Österreichisches Sprachdiplom Deutsch (ÖSD) arose from the desire to offer our students an official, high-quality exam opportunity on-site. As a licensed examination center, we want to facilitate access to internationally recognized German certificates while maintaining the highest standards.” The goal is also to expand the institution’s reach, establish further partnerships, and continuously improve its offerings.

German in practice

In addition to regular courses, SDSK regularly hosts cultural events, language cafés, and thematic workshops. These promote the practical use of the German language and support intercultural exchange. “We attach great importance to an open and supportive learning atmosphere,” emphasizes Ms. Rzayeva.

A renowned German literary scholar from the University of Würzburg – Sieglinde Hartmann – comes to Baku once a semester and meets with SDSK German learners. On these occasions, she gives lectures and seminars on German literature, culture, or regional studies, which has a positive impact on the students’ language development.
