Become an ÖSD exam centre
If you wish to establish an ÖSD exam centre at your venue (language school, university, etc.) you need to apply for an ÖSD licence, which entitles you to conduct ÖSD exams. With an ÖSD licence you have numerous advantages.
You can also find more information about us in the media section.
Requirements for applying for the
ÖSD licence
The following requirements must be met in order to apply for an ÖSD licence::
- Ensure qualified teaching staff (see profile of requirements for examiners) who complete the training for ÖSD examiners after licensing. At least three to four teachers per institution should take part in the multi-day training course, which is a prerequisite for becoming an examiner.
- Adequate premises that comply with the ÖSD Exam Guidelines and technical equipment that allows the examinations to be conducted properly.
- A language course programme that can be expected to attract a sufficiently high number of exam participants so that at least three to four exam dates can be held per year.
- Appoint the positions of exam chair, and deputy chair/exam supervisor.

In the case of licensing, the respective licence status and the modalities of implementation and assessment are agreed. It is also determined whether only own course participants or also external participants are admitted to the examination.
A framework agreement and an annual licence agreement are concluded. The rights and obligations of the licence holder or the applying institution and the licensor are regulated in the framework agreement. The licence agreement sets out annual deadlines and fees.
The following fees apply after licensing:
- Licence fees
The amount of the licence fee is determined annually. - Training fees for examiners
The training is subject to a fee (see training for ÖSD examiners). - Fees per exam
For each exam conducted, the licensee pays the amount listed in the licence agreement.
After licensing and completion of the contractual basis, the examiners are trained, if necessary at the location of the examination centre. The first examination date is conducted in the presence of an ÖSD employee.
ÖSD license status
In order to respond to the needs and capacities of our potential cooperation partners, the ÖSD provides various licence models (Status A-Status E). These differ in terms of the amount of work involved (assessment on site or at the ÖSD headquaters) and the fees to be paid to the examination centre for each examination. Which licence models are suitable or which model is best suited to your institution will be discussed with our licensing department during the application process.
