Become an ÖSD exam centre

If you wish to establish an ÖSD exam centre at your venue (language school, university, etc.) you need to apply for an ÖSD licence, which entitles you to conduct ÖSD exams. With an ÖSD licence you have numerous advantages.

Prerequisites for Partners

Aspiring ÖSD licensees must meet the following requirements:

  • Ensure qualified teaching staff (see profile of requirements for examiners) pass the ÖSD examiners‘ initial qualification and maintain their currency through regular requalification tests. At least 3 to 4 instructors per exam centre must take part in ÖSD examiner training (taken over several days) in order to become licensed examiners.
  • Provide suitable rooms and technical equipment, such that exams can be conducted according to the ÖSD Exam Guidelines.
  • Schedule at least 3 to 4 exams per year, such that a sufficient number of candidates can be assessed.
  • Appoint the positions of exam chair, and deputy chair/exam supervisor.

If your institution meets these requirements, you can request an ÖSD application form via Mail.
This forms the basis for your licence application. Completed application forms and all other relevant documentation must be sent by E-Mail. These will be carefully reviewed and presented to the licence committee for further review.

Once the application has been approved, the ÖSD committee will decide which licence status to grant and stipulate the methods of exam administration and rating. Furthermore, the licence will state whether the exam centre accepts internal candidates (course participants) only or external candidates (non-course participants) as well.

At this point, a licence contract and an annual license agreement are established. The licence contract includes the rights and obligations of the licensees, the applying institution and the licensors. The annual license agreement defines the deadlines and fees.

Once the application has been approved, the following fees are to be paid:

  • Licence fees: the amount paid is determined annually.
  • Training fees for examiners: The licensee pays a fixed fee to ÖSD for examiner training (see training for ÖSD examiners).
  • Fees per exam: for each exam conducted, the licensee pays the amount listed in the licence agreement.

After licensing, examiners are trained (where applicable) at the exam centre’s venue.

The first exam will be carried out with an ÖSD representative being present.

ÖSD license status

In order to be able to cater to the needs and capacities of our potential cooperation partners, the ÖSD provides various license models (status A – status D). These differ from one another in terms of the amount of work (assessment on site or at the ÖSD headquarters) and the fees to be paid for each examination held at the examination center. Which license models are possible or which model is best suited for your institution will be discussed with our licensing department during the application process.
